The U.S. supply chain relies on 300 ports operated by states, counties, municipalities, and corporations, moving an estimated 1.6 billion tons of international freight in annual trade worth $2.3 trillion, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management.
