Why Growing Companies Wait Too Long to Adopt a TMS (And What it Costs)

At this stage, teams recognize they’ve outgrown manual transportation management, yet many wait to adopt a transportation management system (TMS). The signals prompting delay can be misleading: Mistaking size for complexity. TMS decisions are frequently tied to shipment volume, but complexity is the trigger. Multiple shipping locations, expanding carrier networks, customer routing preferences, and multimodal freight increase coordination requirements long before load counts look “enterprise scale.” Implementation fatigue.
