$41.5 BILLION Estimated back-to-school spending in the United States, according to an annual survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Prosper Insights & Analytics. This marks a record high—up from $36.9 billion in 2022 and the previous high of $37.1 billion in 2021. 69% Share of back-to-school shoppers who expect to buy electronics or other computer-related accessories in 2023. This is up from 65% last year and the highest in the NRF survey’s history. $15.2 BILLION Expected total spending on electronics in 2023. This is a record high, making electronics spending the primary driver for the increase in total back-to-school spending. JULY  MIDSEPTEMBER 2023 The back-to-school shopping season. This closely watched time period gives shippers and logistics service providers a read on consumer spending. A robust season signals a positive holiday season to come.
